Berkeley Centre Health
Berkeley Centre Health

Our purpose is to offer a comprehensive, high quality service delivered by a broad spectrum of healthcare experts. With the stunning ‘flagship’ location at The Berkeley Centre and outlying satellite clinics our aim is to help as many people as possible in Bristol and the surrounding area.

We were recommended to Peter (owner) and James (manager) by a previous client, aware that they were searching for a redesign of the lackluster and poorly designed Berkeley Centre Health website. It was clear that the design impacted on functionality and that visually the site failed to import the professionalism of the Centre.

We were determined to create a site that was extremely visitor friendly: by clarity of format, detailed information through images and text and ease of contact. The Centre has 30+ Practitioners from whom we required detailed information regarding their specific therapies! A number of images were provided by the Centre, however the majority were sourced by us. It was important that, with so much information, the structure of the site clearly defined where specific information was to be found.

The completed redesign now reflects the quality, standards, excellence and elegance of Berkeley Centre Health. Details of specific treatments are easily accessed and are presented in an informative and visually engaging style. Links to contact pages are well defined and allow ease of appointment making and sending of enquiries.

Features:

  • Page Builder – users can build their own pages via the admin area with flexibility on size and look of each element on the page.
  • Social Media Integration – the website is linked to the Berkeley Centre Health Twitter and Facebook accounts, so that users can see their latest news.
  • Contact Form.
  • Responsive design – in order for the website to adapt small or large screens.
  • Future proof  as the needs of the client changes the site can be readily developed, so Peter and James can add treatment pages for new practitioners.

Morley Grove Kitchens
Morley Grove Kitchens

Hugo Morley came to us as he wanted the website for his bespoke kitchen business to be redesigned. After analysis of his business we worked to create a site that visually engaged the visitor, by displaying clean and clear images of the kitchens Morley Grove had designed and built in Bristol, Bath and surrounding areas. We arranged the images of the bespoke kitchens in a grid system, allowing the visitor an overall impression of the quality and style of Morley Grove’s previous kitchen builds. We added a function which allows the visitor to view any image in a lightbox and browse all the images of that particular build. To ensure that Morley Grove could add new images of work completed we used WordPress as it features an admin page that is simple for Hugo to add and update projects himself.

Séamus Ó Baoighill
Séamus Ó Baoighill

http://seamusobaoighill.com/

Séamus (now 17) began playing at the age of 8 and was the youngest member to have entered Sgoil Chiùil na Gàidhealtachd by age 11, under the instruction of Iain MacFarlane and Iain MacFadyen.

Séamus is a notably fine musician and a savvy young guy who knew that having his own website would enhance his exposure and help further his career. A couple of years ago he had asked a friend to create a website for him. This site required improvement, added content and a creative overhaul. Séamus had been selected as a finalist in BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2015 Finals and therefore needed a distinctive website to support his position as a serious musician, with the realistic potential of musical career ahead of him.

The existing WordPress website was without any real design or structure  and contained a minimal content. There was very little to exhibit Séamus’ musical talent; in fact Séamus was hardly visible in any  way!

We wanted to ensure that the site would embody everything that Séamus was about; his youth, his musicianship, his roots and the strong Celtic influences. The site would have to reflect the traditions of his environment and also recognise that Séamus is a 21st century guy.  We had to be sure that the design of the site would allow traditional imagery to amalgamate seamlessly with the new. Luckily our design team love a challenge,  and successfully created a visually stunning site, that conveys the beauty that is Skye, yet ensures that Séamus remains the focus.

It was important to us that Séamus’ music would be heard. To this end, we downloaded MP3 files of his music, and added a facility to play the music as soon as the website has loaded. We put up videos of Séamus fiddling, so that the full experience could be seen and heard. We provided a link to Seamus’ YouTube channel so that all his videos can be viewed. To keep visitors up-to date with all things Séamus, we built-in a Social Media section which includes the ability to read his tweets and send back to him.

Features:

  • Page Builder – users can build their own pages via the admin area with flexibility on size and look of each element on the page.
  • One Page Website
  • Social Media Integration – Séamus’ website is linked to his Twitter account, so that users can see what he has been up to. There is also a link to his YouTube channel so that users can watch his videos.
  • Music Player – in order for Séamus’ music can be heard as soon as users visit the website.
  • Contact Form.
  • Responsive design – in order for the website to adapt small or large screens.
  • Future proof – as the needs of the client changes the site can be readily developed, so he can add new events in his calendar and update the music that is played on the website.

Discountants
Discountants

http://discountants.co.uk/

If you are looking for a friendly, knowledgeable and approachable accountancy practice who are prepared to invest time and understanding into your business and tax affairs without charging you the earth for it, you have found them!

Discountants came to us needing a new website to advertise their accountancy services. Their previous website had not been updated for a few years and needed to be completely redesigned for today’s market.

We ascertained that we needed to present the content from Discountants in an uncomplicated fashion. It was of primary importance to us, that users of the Discountants website are able to access the information they are seeking quickly and easily. The visitor, by engaging with a site that presents as reassuringly transparent and straightforward, is more likely to view Discountants accountancy services as possessing the same qualities and trust  Discountants to provide a high level of client care. We also wanted the Discountants website to demonstrate exactly  how able the company is at benefiting both new and existing businesses, and individuals seeking accountancy services. We considered the most efficient and enhancing method to do this was by creating a large slideshow, as a banner, which alternates between 3 different slides of  engaging black and white images, with text headlining the various categories for whom  Discountants provide their highly rated services.

The Discountants logo was our inspiration for design. The colour scheme is of a similar palette to the Discountants logo. Icons were selected for having similar design qualities to the logo. We were aware that on certain pages, there was much content that needed to be shown, therefore we had to find a design solution in order to divide into smaller sections. We chose to use accordions, which allow users to expand and collapse certain sections. These accordions are then used to display the more detailed information about each accountancy service that Discountants provide. As Discountants receive excellent testimonials from their clients, we integrated a widget from FreeIndex, which allows users to read the latest reviews from customers. We also have a Contact page which visitors use to email Discountants if they need more information regarding the services they provide.

Our websites are future proofed, thereby allowing changes, adaptations, additions of new elements – pages, widgets, design, themes and plugins. This site can be modified and expanded with ease and simplicity.

Features:

  • Page Builder – users can build their own pages via the admin area with flexibility on size and look of each element on the page.
  • Contact Form.
  • Responsive design – in order for the website to adapt small or large screens.
  • Banner Design.
  • Future proof – as the needs of the client changes the site can be readily developed.

Alison Frazer
Alison Frazer

www.alisonfrazer.co.uk

Alison Frazer is an experienced Employment Law Barrister based in Bristol, UK. She provides legal advice, support and representation to employers and employees either directly or through solicitors.

Alison Frazer asked us to develop a website to advertise her services as an experienced Employment Law Barrister, based in Bristol, UK. As a commensurate professional and highly successful practitioner, with a vast amount of experience gathered over the years working with and representing many organisations and individuals, Alison Frazer’s website needed to reflect all her outstanding qualities. Alison is “always approachable” (Legal 500) , a fact that required to be clearly highlighted as integral to her ethos. Therefore we wanted to create a site that was clean, uncluttered, styled and corporate but also reflected the ease with which a client could engage with Alison.

To reflect the scale of Alison’s business we chose to use an image of skyscrapers as an unobtrusive background to the Home Page. This would subliminally associate the business to accomplishment and corporate professionalism. The style and layout of the text and graphics were developed to provide clarity for the user and to be reminiscent of legal text (especially the use of a capitalised font).  We chose to refine each area of  Alison’s expertise into distinct, but simply structured sections, with again, clarity, being our focus. This resulted in an excellent balance of gravitas and provision of information in a highly accessible and comprehensible manner for the user.

To include a section regarding Alison herself was obviously a primary requirement, not only to showcase her varied and successful career, but also to reflect her cordiality. The photograph of Alison shows her in the countryside, away from a corporate  environment. Her expression is one of warmth and engagement.

The contact form was designed to be extremely easy to use, so clients are enabled to make speedy contact with Alison.

Features:

  • One page  Parallax website – presents information in a more accessible and interesting way.
  • Logo design – created to be both stylish and memorable.
  • Contact form – easy to use.
  • Responsive design – in order for the website to look great on small or large screens.
  • Social Media Integration – links to Facebook, Google + and Twitter.
  • Future proof – as the needs of the client changes the site can be readily developed.

Life Pearls
Life Pearls

http://www.lifepearls.co.uk

Lifepearls is a blog is about bringing wisdom back to the people. Wisdom is not a fabled quality possessed only by elders, lonely old women, cross-legged gurus and wizards in fantasy worlds. It is a human quality which is both a necessary life skill and a virtue. Despite it being celebrated by the Greeks, it has lost its popularity in modern society and although it may be something that may well come with experience there are often young people who are ‘wise beyond their years’.

We, at Digital Medium, Bristol were commissioned to design and develop a blog website called Life Pearls. Our client, Ally Jane, had the great concept of providing meaningful, considered and helpful advice for those that are in need and for those who wish to gain and celebrate wisdom! She asked us to design a logo that would visually encompass the significant messages she is seeking to spread. Ally Jane required a site that was easy to use, (Ally describes herself as a “technophobe“), therefore we chose to use a WordPress website which features ease of update and addition of new content. Ally found she was able to realize her vision, to present blogs covering a variety of topics designed to provide “positive, insightful and inspirational” messages which can encourage us all to make better choices in life. To ensure that these blogs reach a wider audience, all new blog posts published appear on the Life Pearls Twitter and Facebook account. We also integrated newsletter functionality where by people can add their emails to a mailing list to receive newsletters via email. These newsletters are designed in the administration area of the website.

Features:

  • Page Builder, – users can build their own pages via the admin area, which offers flexibility on size and appearance of each element on the page.
  • Contact Form
  • Logo Design
  • Social Media Integration – blog posts are published to Facebook and Twitter and all blog posts can be shared on the website via other people on any of their social media accounts.
  • Newsletter Functionality Life Pearls website allows subscription to a newsletter via a mailing list. Ally is able to create and distribute the newsletter in the admin area of the site.

Stretch Activities

http://www.stretchactivities.co.uk

We redesigned a website for London based company Stretch Activities, who deliver a range of activity classes for babies, toddlers, children with parents/carers. Georgie Mitchell and Annabel Seares came to us as they needed a redesign of the existing Stretch Activities website. We decided that there didn’t need to be so many pages and put most of the content on just one page so it was easier to access. We then created a menu with links that would scroll to different sections of the homepage.

Features:

  • Page Builder- Users can build their own pages via the admin area with flexibility on size and look of each element on the page.
  • Parallax Images

Greenhorn Homes
Greenhorn Homes

www.greenhornhomes.co.uk

Eco-friendly building & carpentry services in and around Bristol

Craig Greenhorn came to us with his new business – an eco focused building company influenced by PassiveHaus. He wanted a simple website that would promote his work and services effectively, without over complicating the process. We decided that it was necessary to present two slideshows of images, to illustrate the breadth and quality of Greenhorn Homes trade and craft, along with small sections of text to explain each of his services succinctly. In addition to these services, Greenhorn Homes build houses that are known as “Passive Houses” (Read about Passive Houses). This forms a key element of Craig’s working process and we needed to ensure we communicated the numerous benefits of  PassiveHaus standards to the readers of the website. To do this, we created a section dedicated to Passive Houses, which includes a 90 second video concisely describing the concept, requirements, process and benefits.

To ensure that, for those interested in his services, there would be an easy means of contacting Greenhorn Homes, we created a contact form at the bottom of the site. This sends an email to Greenhorn Homes to which they can then respond to any inquiries or queries.

Features:

  • Parallax Images
  • Contact Form
  • Video section – an extremely effective method of conveying information.
  • One page site – The whole website uses just one page, therefore allowing more creative and interesting design.
  • Links to social media sites – enabling greater interaction with the site.

I’m Amazing
I’m Amazing

www.imamazing.co.uk

We made this website for a company called I’m Amazing, who produce and sell their nutritious and delicious salad. Chris came to us needing a website that would allow people to look at the salad and see information about the ingredients that are used to create the salad. In order to do this, we felt it was important that people should be able to see pictures both of the salad and the fresh ingredients to show the salad to its full potential. In addition to this, when pictures of the ingredients are clicked, users are then able to read the information about each ingredient and see what each ingredient brings to the salad. Also there is plenty of information about where people can buy the salad from including links to companies that stock the I’m Amazing salad. All of this information is all on just one simple webpage with menu items linking to sections of the page rather than different pages.

Features:

  • Parallax Images
  • Contact Form
  • One page site – The whole website uses just one page
  • Email setup – We set up email for I’m Amazing so that they can receive email from the contact form.

Renewable Energy Partner
Renewable Energy Partner

www.rnepartner.com

We made this website for Renewable Energy Partner, a project development company that specialise in renewable energy projects in the Middle East and Africa. Adel came to us with an existing WordPress site that was not being used to its full potential. Its content was structured but very unappealing to the eye. So we decided to retain most of the text and some of the images, but just make it look a bit more interesting. Adel also had a lot of events and conferences he attended every year and so we thought it would be great if users could keep track of when these events take place. So there is a news and events which has a list of events he has attended or is attending, along with a calender so that users can look at what events are coming up on a month-by-month basis and each event has their own page so that you can see all of the details for each event. Adel can manage all of this in the admin area of his site. We also produced the same site but in French at http://www.enrpartner.com.

Features:

  • Event Management- Events can be added, edited and viewed allowing users to see what events Renewable Energy Partner are attending and the details of those events.
  • Language Switcher- Users can switch between the English and French site via links in the main menu.
  • Page Builder- Users can build their own pages via the admin area with flexibility on size and look of each element on the page.
  • Parallax Images
  • Image Galleries

Alan Brice Welding & Storage Systems Website
Alan Brice Welding & Storage Systems Website

We made this website for Bristol based Mobile Welder; Alan Brice. Alan came to us after experiencing huge costs to keep his previous website online – being charged premium business rates normally associated with large scale corporations not small independent tradesmen. The previous site Alan had was rather outdated, with only a single small box at the centre of the page providing very basic information, no imagery and the design was rather dull and uninspiring. We met with Alan and worked with him to produce a list of features to include on the site, during this process Alan mentioned a second skew to his services – Storage Systems and this inspired us to create a dual sided website with two independent domain names. By combining the structures of the two sites we have created a seamless experience for the user, the two sites have an almost identical structure but with one mirroring the other in its layout – this is the only clue the user is given that they’ve actually moved onto another website. By doing this we allow Alan’s site to appear independently in google for both mobile welding searches and storage systems searches in google rather than one domain and one landing page coming up for both. This in effect doubles Alan’s effective online reach.

  alanstort2humbnail template

Features:

  • 4 Page Custom Wordpress Site x2 – Doubled across two domains and interlinked for a seamless experience.
  • Dynamically loading information – email address etc updates depending on what side of the site you are on (Welding or Storage)
  • Custom Imagery
  • Contact Forms

Manor Farm Cottage Website
Manor Farm Cottage Website

Recently we helped Somerset based couple Georgie and Phillip Mitchell design a new site to help promote their beautiful holiday cottage. We thought about what was important to someone looking to get away for the weekend or a short break and also the regular visitors already frequenting the cottage. We wanted to create a site that promoted the major selling points of the house – mainly its beautiful location/surrounding areas and the visual aesthetic of the cottage itself. With this in mind we created a site that was more visually biased using a photo of the surroundings as a backdrop to the entire site and using prominent imagery with light-boxes for better viewing. The site is simple, effective and most importantly visually attractive, we hope it helps to bring Mr & Mrs Mitchell a number of new visitors.

Features:

  • Custom HTML5 site

Jonathan Roper Website

This website was a personal website built by one of our team to market his services. He built this website using WordPress and took an existing theme and then modified it to suit his needs. This allowed him to do a lot of work without having to do too much as he was able to combine the existing WordPress software with his knowledge of PHP. Using WordPress also meant he didn’t have to set up a database to store all of the projects. Once he had done this, it meant that new pages and posts could be added easily using the WordPress interface instead of having to write out HTML himself.

The site included the following functionality:

  • Bespokely designed site on proven platform.
  • Consistent page design
  • Contact form.
  • Mailing list.
  • Content Management System (CMS).
  • Social Media integration with three social networks.
